This morning you will be arriving into Edinburgh International Airport. Here you will be met by your dedicated Sandgrouse Travel & Expeditions team (who are also French speaking).

Once you have collected your luggage you will be shown outside the airport terminal to where your very own Land Rover Defender 110 is waiting. These are the perfect vehicles in which to explore the beauty of Scotland. With plenty of load space for you and your luggage and a complete 'go-anywhere' ability , you are sure to enjoy the experience of one of these iconic British off-roaders. We believe that travelling in a Land Rover Defender is as much a part of your adventure as the very places you are visiting. After a short vehicle check-over and set-up you are off!

Heading out of Edinburgh in convoy we will take a short detour to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Forth Railway Bridge. This is arguably one of the most iconic bridges in the world and a must see whilst in the area. The bridge itself looms large over the historic town of South Queensferry, we will take a short break here to marvel at the bridges before heading further north via the Forth Road Bridge.

Pushing further north into the Kingdom of Fife, we continue on the M90 up towards the ancient town of Perth before arriving at the world famous and luxury Gleneagles Hotel & Golf Resort. On arrival the Gleneagles porters will greet you warmly and your Land Rover Defenders will be driven around to the hotel's carpark by one of the Sandgrouse Travel & Expeditions team. Hotel staff will check you in before showing you to your luxury rooms, leaving you to relax and get settled.

After a chance to freshen up, lunch will be served in the Auchterarder 70 clubhouse. This is a recently refurbished clubhouse themed restaurant only a short walk away form the main hotel buildlings. Auchterarder 70 overlooks the world famous golf courses and serves superb food along with local craft beers.

This afternoon an activity at the hotel has been arranged for you and your group: activities at Gleneagles are wide ranging and should you have a preference as a group please inform your Sandgrouse Travel & Expeditions travel planner.

This evening you will be enjoying a fine dining experience in the hotel's exclusive-use wine cellar. This is an impressive space, here you will be surrounded by some impressive bottle of wine and champange, not to mention rare scotch whisky! The Gleneagles sommelier will recommend you the best wines for your traditional scottish meal of Haggis.

After Dinner, retire to the art-deco inspired bar at the heart of the hotel for a Scottish dram before the end of the day.

Today you will be waking up in the complete comfort and refinement of one of the world's most famous hotels. Gleneagles Hotel offers as you would expect, exceptional breakfasts. After a great Scottish breakfast you will be well set you up to enjoy a quick pre-arranged on-site activity. Why not bust a few clays at the excellent shooting school or experience the impressive British School of Falconry? Or how about heading down to the state-of-the-art driving range and Pro's golf shop to pick up some top tips?

After your morning activity you will be checking-out of Gleneagles and jumping back into your Land Rover Defender. At this point you will be meeting up again with your Sandgrouse Travel & Expeditions guides. Your guides will be in a lead car (also a Land Rover Defender) and will head towards the nearby snow-capped mountains.

It is here that we peel off the road and start to head slowly and carefully in convoy up a very remote and private Scottish glen. With 14kms of private estate track to traverse this section of the day will give you a real chance to enjoy the Land Rover Defender in its natural environment. Here, there is also the very real opportunity to see some of Scotland's best wildlife. The area in which you will be travelling is well known for Mountain Hare along with Red Grouse and of course, Red deer. If you are lucky you will see a majestic Red Stag with his antlers (Red stags loose their antlers in the early Spring).

On reaching the top of our private Scottish glen, a safari style picnic lunch will be served whilst savouring the views and incredible nature which surrounds you.

On finishing our lunch it is time to look towards the skies. Your private helicopter transfer should be landing with us shortly. Your pilot will be taking you on a scenic helicopter tranfser flight from your beautiful mountain top picnic spot to the historic Blair Atholl Castle. Enjoy marvelling at the grand Scottish Highland scenery from the air, a bird's eye view of the majestic glens and mountains. On arrival at Blair Atholl, you will be dropped off and be able to enjoy a tour of what is one of Scotland's most impressive and historic castles.

After your afternoon tour of the castle and grounds we recommend heading to your Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel. Kinloch House Hotel is a very typical Scottish country-house. Decorated in a grand and traditional style, guests benefit from a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Of course, the dining experience at Kinloch House Hotel is as one would expect - superb. This evening after your dinner we have arranged for you a private whisky tasting experience with one of the industries leading experts, Charles Maclean. Charles has written over 11 books on the subject and is wildly considered these leading expert on the subject of Scotch Whisky. For more information on Charles see here; Sandgrouse Travel Ambassadors

After fine food and great whisky tasting with new friends, the comfort of your bed calls!

This morning you will check-out of Kinloch House Hotel after a sumptuous breakfast. Take your Land Rover Defender north towards Pitlochry. Whilst in Pitlochry we recommend you drop into the famous Bells whisky distillery for a guided tour. Bells is one of Scotland's most famous blended whiskies and a tour of a distillery will complete your education on the subject. Tickets can be purchased on the door should you wish to visit the distillery.

Heading out of Pitlochry a short 3-mile drive north you will find on the right of the road, the world famous home of country clothing, 'The House of Bruar'. This is a must-visit luxury shopping experience. You will be met by the House of Bruar team and invited for champagne and nibbles before a complimentary 'VIP' Shopping Experience. Make the most of the help of the doting on-site staff and find yourself the perfect gift or momento of Scotland to take home.

We recommend visiting the tearooms for a light lunch before leaving. On leaving the House of Bruar you will be effectively retracing your steps south back towards Edinburgh airport via Perth and the Forth Bridges. Follow the M90 back over the Forth Road Bridge, taking one last opportunity to view both the Forth Railway Bridge to your left and the new Queensferry Crossing (the new third bridge across the river) to your right.

Once at Edinburgh Airport you will be able to drop off your trusted and by this time, well-loved Land Rover Defender 110. At the airport terminal check-in for your return flights home.

We hope you return to Scotland soon!
