More info

Between January and April the beautiful Hinderson Island in the Lulea archipelago is accessible by ice road or snowmobile only, either way you will be arriving here in a unique fashion. The secluded and special island is the perfect setting the charming and traditional Jopikgarden Guesthouse.

Furnished in a typically Swedish way, the farmhouse is a cosy home from home with wooden floors throughout, light and airy rooms and a small bar and restaurant.

As you would expect in Swedish Lapland there is of course a sauna to be found out in the garden, perfect for a defrost after you have been out for the day on the snowmobiles or with your team of huskies and guide.

Activities

A wide variety of winter activities are on offer here:

Ice-fishing on the frozen lakes and sea

Guided snowshoe walks in search of the Nothern Lights or Aurora Borealis

Snowmobiling on the tundra or through the forests

Husky dogsledding with your own team of dogs and a guide.

Temperatures in this part of northern Sweden are extremely cold during the winter months, we recommend travellers pack for a true winter experience.

Guests are also supplied with additional suitable winter clothing on arrival and or before their activities commence.

The best time to visit is from the beginning of January to the beginning of April.

Transfers to and from the guesthouse are conducted on snowmobiles across the sea ice – a stay at Jopikgarden Guesthouse is incorporated into a Sandgrouse Travel ‘Snowmobile Northern Lights Safari’.
