Newly Launched: ULTION PRIVÉ by Sandgrouse Travel & Expeditions. Scotland’s Ultimate Sporting Journeys
RENOVATED REYKJAVIK CONTEMPORARY HOTEL. Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina is located a few steps from downtown Reykjavik, in a completely renovated four-story building that has become a landmark among local residents. It is located next to the historical, and still fully functioning, dry-dock called Slippur. With an emphasis on blending the dynamic, creative atmosphere of this rapidly developing district with the country’s strong fishing traditions, the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina offers everyone the opportunity to see and experience the capital at its most creative and colorful.
This Reykjavik hotel offers colorful and quirky design both inside and out. The lobby and other common areas are bright and whimsical, and feature colorful wallpaper, locally-sourced antiques and other fanciful odds and ends – bland and uniform it is not. But, the hotel also strives to be warm and inviting and features lots of comfortable, cozy seating and other private areas as well as a large fireplace.

New facilities at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Marina have further enhanced the hotel’s lively atmosphere that guests love so much. The hotel has expanded with new beautiful rooms and suites, delightful common areas on the ground floor, a new vibrant café called Kaffislippur, as well as the jewel, the exclusive Reykjavik Marina Residence.
Just like other rooms at the hotel, the 39 new elegant rooms - taken in use in summer 2015 - are decorated with contemporary Icelandic design and references to the maritime culture. The rooms are on four floors and of various types. The new common area will have facilities for events with up to 50 guests and another space for 25–30 people, well suited for all kinds of promotions or private parties.
The essence of Kaffislippur is ‘delicatessen’. It’s the place to have a seat and enjoy the homemade delicacies with an awesome view of life in the harbour. Or perhaps you need a nice place to work or simply want to grab some refreshments along to your adventures. The hotel's specialty is the brilliant breakfast, coffee of all kinds, wholesome lunch and captivating cakes. When the cafe closes at 6pm, the festivities continue at Slippbarinn. However, the facilities at Kaffislippur are still available for those looking for more peaceful surroundings.
The ‘home suite home’, Reykjavik Marina Residence, opened in fall 2015. The focus is on exclusive private service, high-class comfort and decor. The residence is located just next to Reykjavik Marina’s main building in two renovated historic Reykjavik houses. The lounge and the main suite is located in Daniel’s House, a former residence of the shipbuilder Daniel Thorsteinsson. Six more exclusive rooms (40 m2), are located in the next door house.
