The Very Best of Scotland (Short) View Full Screen Itinerary

This morning you will arrive in Edinburgh at Edinburgh Airport. Here you will be met by your ground contact who will make sure you have all your luggage and supporting documentation. Your luxury private transfer vehicle will be waiting for you outside to take you into the city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland's beautiful captial.

On arrival in Edinburgh you will drop off your luggage at your city centre hotel, the famous Balmoral Hotel. Once you have checked into your rooms you will be able to start to explore this incredible and most beautiful capital city. Edinburgh is a city rich in great history, a vibrant culture and packed with many exciting sites! 

This evening why not find a local Scottish restaurant or enjoy the Balmoral's own amazing food.

Today you will wake up overlooking Edinburgh Castle and Prince's Street Gardens. Not far from your windows is the impressive Scott Monument, worth climbing up if you have the legs and a head for heights! After a sumptious traditional Scottish breakfast which may include your first encounter with 'Haggis', you will be ready to explore the fantastic capital city of Scotland.

Head out and enjoy both the New Town laid down in the Georgian era with grand houses and wide cobbled streets. Take lunch in one of the cities many incredible restaurants before heading back to the narrow myriad of Old Town lanes. We recommend you enjoy a city tour today with a guide who will be able to bring the tales of old alive and explain a huge amount about the city's brilliant history.

Today you will be checking out of The Balmoral Hotel and commencing your exploration of the Scottish Highlands. Incredible, romantic Scottish scenery awaits via many miles of beautiful roads passing mountains, lochs and castles. 

This morning you will have your luxury Range Rover 4x4 dropped off at the hotel in the centre of Edinburgh. After a complete briefing of the vehicle it will be time to leave behind the hustle of the city. You will follow your GPS directions north towards Loch Lomond and Rannoch Moor, before descending through the mighty and world famous Glencoe. Whilst travelling through Glencoe we recommend stopping at the many laybys to enjoy the mountains that tower high above you and make for the perfect photograph. If the weather is good, why not put your boots on and head for a short walk in the beautiful glen. 

Later this afternoon you will arrive in Fort William on the shores of Loch Linnhe. Loch Linnhe is in fact a sea loch and you will see many fishing boats here. Fort William itself sits at the foot of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. You will be able to see Ben Nevis from your incredible hotel, Inverlochy Castle. Enjoy taking some time to relax in the comfort and quiet of this magnificent castle which will be a real change to the hustle of Edinburgh. We recommend you take the time to play snooker in the great billiards room, here you will be surrounded by huge Red Deer and Elk trophies. 

Tomorrow you will have free to enjoy exploring the local area. Why not take the cable car up Ben Nevis or even drive south to the fishing port of Oban. From here you could take a day trip to the stunning Isle of Mull. We recommend Mull for scenery and wildlife and believe it to be one of the finest islands in Scotland.

Today you will be checking out of the fantastic Inverlochy Castle at the foot of Ben Nevis. After another example of the fine cuisine for breakfast, it will be time to jump into the Range Rover again and head north. Follow the directions on your GPS past Loch Garry and on past Loch Cluanie before dropping down to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle which sits at the gateway to the Isle of Skye. This is one of Scotland's most loved castles and is well worth a tour inside. Stop and take photos of the castle and impressive causeway before enjoying a self-guided tour inside to find out all about the amazing history. 

On leaving Eilean Donan it will be time to head across to the Isle of Skye. Thankfully these days there is a small road bridge so it is easy and fast to reach. The southern end of Skye will be where you are staying, at the beautiful Kinloch Lodge. Kinloch Lodge is known for amazing food and peace and quiet sat on the shore. Behind the hotel in the distance you will see the Cullin mountain range which dominates the skyline with impressive jagged peaks. 

We recommend looking to arrange something with Kinloch Lodge whilst you are here, Skye Ghillie offers incredible foraging trips locally. Why not take a trip down on the beach with this local expert to find your very own mussels. You can then give these to the hotel's chef to prepare for your dinner! 

You will have the next day here on Skye to enjoy exploring and visiting some of the world famous sites such as Fairy Pools, The Old Man of Storr, Talisker Whisky Distillery and of course Dunvegan Castle. Make sure you enjoy some more of the local seafood and when the weather is good, a walk in the beautiful countryside and mountains.

Today you will need to leave the Isle of Skye early after one last fantastic Scottish breakfast! Kinloch Lodge will certainly leave you with a good impression of the food in Scotland. The drive south today will be long but easy in your comfortable Range Rover. Please make sure that you set off early today to allow plenty of time for your journey south. Of course the wild and rugged beauty of the mountains and scenery will also help you on your journey. If you do have time to stop for a few last photos to capture the beauty of Scotland, then make sure you do.
