The Laplander: Northern Lights with IceHotel View Full Screen Itinerary

Today you will arrive at Lulea Airport in Swedish Lapland. On arrival you will be met by your driver guide who will be waiting for you with a paging board at 'arrivals'. A short distance drive away, heading out into the remoter parts of this stunning region of Scandinavia you will soon be at your first accommodation, the impressive Brandon Lodge. Goran the owner will most likely welcome you himself and be happy to show you around this firm favourite of ours. After a welcome drink by the roaring fire in the traditional lavvu (Saami tent) you will be shown to your comfortable cabins which are located a short walk from the main lodge. 

This afternoon you will be able to relax and enjoy settling into the this amazing winter wonderland. Swedish Lapland in winter is a special place, far removed from the norms of the UK. This afternoon as the darkness descends, keep a look out for the possibility of Northern Lights. Goran your host will be able to tell you if the prediction is good. He will also be arranging to take you out this evening on snowmobile across the frozen pack ice to a special cabin on the shore. On returning to the lodge you will enjoy a fine 3-course dinner prepared with locally sourced food and in a traditional way. After dinner tonight you will have the opportunity to enjoy your first Swedish log-fired sauna.

Today is a grand adventure like no other. Infact we think that today is as close to visiting the North Pole as many people can possibly get.

After a fantastic breakfast at Brandon Lodge you will be met by your guide who will show you with expert tuition how to operate your snowmobile. Should you not wish to drive you are able to be a passenger on a snowmobile. After a breifing you will set off following your expert guide on a carefully considered route out across the frozen lakes and sea. The route will take you our across a frozen wasteland of pack-ice, past icebergs and islands encased in ice and snow. Today will seem as though you are in the far North Pole or even an Antarctic landscape. With good luck the weather will be excellent with vast blue skies stretching from horizon to horizon. 

You will stop on one of the remote islands that you are navigating around for a safari style lunch. Spread out a reindeer skin and enjoy the amazing location, atmosphere and experience before heading back. Your trail back to Brandon Lodge will most likely be a different route allowing you to experince the Swedish Pine forests. Zoom through well ridden forest tracks, living the life of a local! 

This afternoon as the darkness is closing in, return to Brandon Lodge and relax. Tonight you will have the chance to hopefuly see the Northern Lights dancing high above your heads across the vast inky black skies of the far north. Another 3-course dinner awaits before a well earned night cap in the friendly bar of Brandon Lodge.

Today you will be checking out of Brandon Lodge after a unique morning excursion through the local pine forests with your own team of amazing husky dogs. After breakfast it will be time to suit up in your warm weather gear and met your dogs before a 2.5 hour dog-sledding experience with the help of expert guides or mushers. You will be able to drive your very own teams of dogs should you wish. Dog-sledding was once the principle form of transport in this part of the world and to experience this magical pursuit is something many people around the world can only dream of. On your return to Brandon Lodge, your local driver guide will take you today to the world famous Icehotel. As this is not an insignificant distance you will be able to stop off today at some well known local sites of interest, passing through wonderful Swedish Lapland landscapes today's travel will give you a real insight into the region as a whole. 

On arriving at Icehotel, you will be welcomed warmly by your hosts and the attentive staff. They will show you to your room calved almost in its entirity our of ice blocks from the river on which you stand. 

This evening you will enjoy the incredible atmosphere and unique experience of being in a hotel built out of ice! Icehotel is one of the worlds most famous hotels and with good reason. Each year the hotel is created from scratch and is different to the previous years so make sure you take some photos!

This morning will be your last morning in Swedish Lapland. Waking up in the Icehotel is not an everyday thing so make the most of your last few hours in this absolutely unique hotel. Savour a great Swedish breakfast before getting ready to check-out. A driver will be able to take you the short distance to the local airport from which you will be departing Swedish Lapland.
