Spitsbergen Crossing East to West

14 DAYS / 13 NIGHTS, EPIC SMALL GROUP SKI TOURING EXPEDITION ACROSS ARCTIC SPITSBERGEN IN THE HIGH ARCTIC, PULLING EXPEDITION PULKS, WILD-CAMPING, LEAD BY EXPERT POLAR GUIDES, KIT INCLUDED

The Crossing of Spitsbergen is the perfect introduction to ski-pulk expeditions. Starting on the truly remote East coast far away from Longyearbyen and any other people. The route takes us through utterly beautiful Arctic scenery over multiple days with the crossing ending up at Isfjord Radio, the remote WW2 Radio station, now turned into the world's most isolated hotel. During our expedition we will ski over glaciers, across sea ice, stand polar bear guard, and do 15-20km every day in a true Arctic adventure.

This expedition has no set dates, but can be arranged from 20. March - 10. May

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • The trip, accommodation and meals according to the program.

  • Transport to and from accommodation in Longyearbyen.

  • Equipment: Tent, Primus and fuel, kitchen equipment, emergency kit, Fjellpulken or Paris expedition sledge, safety gear.

  • Rescue guarrantee for Spitsbergen.

  • One night at the Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel.

 

Arrival In Longyearbyen

After arriving in Longyearbyen the guide will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel, after settling into your room, after settling in the guide will have a meeting with the whole group to talk about expectations, weather and the plan for the upcoming days.

 
 

Packing 

The guide will pick everybody up after breakfast, and we will head down to the storage and pack our pulkas. We will test the stoves and tents, and thoroughly go through all the equipment so we're sure we are not missing anything. We will have time afterwards to do some last minute shopping if there is anything missing. The evening is set of for relaxing and getting ready for the next morning

 

Transport

We will be transported out to the Easternmost part of our route to start our expedition. Starting early in the morning, it will take us some hours, so after putting the skies on we will not go very far before we set camp to get into the routines. Approx skiing 5-6km

 

 

Skiing

Eat - Ski - Sleep - Repeat

These days we will be skiing around 15-20km each day, working 7-8hours. 

 

Arrival at Isfjord Radio

Our last light in the tents, we will ski about 10km before reaching Isfjord Radio. Here, a warm bed, hot shower and a fantastic dinner awaits.

 

Back to Town

Breakfast and relaxing inside in the heat for a few hours before the snowmobiles arrive to transport us back to town. Arriving in town we will sort out some gear before you are taken to your hotel. In the evening we will eat dinner together and celebrate the finishing of our crossing.

 

Flight back home

The trip is over and the guide will take you to the Airport.
