You will enjoy breakfast at Treehotel’s Guest House. Your private guide will then collect you to take you on your Sami Culture and Arctic Circle Visit.

Today you will be introduced to the Sami culture and its way of life by personally meeting and spending time with your own private Sami, the legendary 72 year old Lars Eriksson. Lars has been working with and alongside reindeer his entire life and has great knowledge of the way things work in the reindeer herding community as well as the overall way of life in Swedish Lapland. Lars will guide you and give you insight into the unique history of Sami life and culture and break down the history of reindeer herding for you from today compared to what it was like 50 years ago. When Lars calls his reindeer, you will be amazed at how quickly he will have up to 30 or more reindeer coming in very close to him and your by his side. Lars will guide you and educate you on the animal’s feeding habits and you will have the opportunity to hand feed the reindeer. Lars and his family have lived in the same location for 7 generations.

You will enjoy a wonderful lunch cooked and served by Lars’ wife using local traditional ingredients.

After saying goodbye to Lars and his family your private guide will transfer you to Aurora Safari Camp in the Sub-Arctic. This exciting camp is now running in its third year of operations, ever evolving in the enriching and sensitive environment that we live in. You will be transported to the camp across the frozen Rane River by snow mobile sleigh to the camp base which is located in a picturesque setting on the banks of the Rane River. There is no artificial light at all to be seen from the camp meaning the milky way can be seen above and of course, the aurora northern lights.

Here at the Aurora Safari camp, you can unwind properly, enjoying the romantic and tranquil setting. You can savour the Swedish sauna on ice, star gaze with uninterupted dark skies and enjoy dinner prepared for you in a safari style tent with roaring fires. All this sharing and sampling of the wildnerness and the elements is done in camp comfort; Aurora Safari Camp style!
