This luxury, private, fully guided short trip around Scotland includes some of the country's many highlights from top accommodation names to special sites and famous attractions. You will experience the beautiful and history capital, Edinburgh whilst staying at the luxury Principal Hotel, George St. here you rooms in the vibrant heart of the city.

You have the option of exploring properly Edinburgh on your first day in Scotland or having a driver/guide take you to St. Andrews to view the world famous Royal & Ancient's Old Course golf club. 

On leaving Edinburgh your driver guide will make sure you pass through Glen Coe, the most dramatic glen in Scotland where you will hear of stories about the clans that once lived here. Head to the delightful coastal town of Oban for a whisky tasting session with an expert at the small but esteemed distillery.

Travelling by Ferry to the Isle of Mull is exciting in itself. however once you arrive you will immediately embark on your own private charted boat tour. Whilst here on Mull, you will check into one of the most beautiful private hotel's on the island enjoying traditional rooms and hospitality. Leaving Mull, head back to the mainland for a night in Oban itself. Eilean Donan castle, one of the world's most iconic castles, you will have the opportunity to discover this great castle on your way to your next West Coats island, the famous Isle of Skye. 

Your final few days see you visit the Isle of Skye, dominated by rugged mountains and windswept landscapes. Staying at a beautiful traditional Victorian hunting lodge you will discover the peace and tranquility of this special corner of Scotland. 

Departing Skye sees you visit Loch Ness and Urquart Castle - one of the most impressive castle ruins in the scottish highlands before a final night in Scotland at a city centre hotel in Inverness.

Day 1

Day 1: Arrival into the Heart of Scotland - Edinburgh

Today you will arrive into the very beating heart of Scotland, the vibrant and alive capital city, Edinburgh. Waiting at the train station will be you guide who will escort you to the check-in desk directly at The Principal Hotel. Here you will check-in dropping off your luggage...

Today you will arrive into the very beating heart of Scotland, the vibrant and alive capital city, Edinburgh. Waiting at the train station will be you guide who will escort you to the check-in desk directly at The Principal Hotel. Here you will check-in dropping off your luggage in your luxury rooms. 

Your afternoon consists of a walking tour around the city, taking in the 'New Town', Princes' Street Gardens and the 'Old Town' leading up to the Castle where you will have time to explore this historic and fascinating buidling. 

This evening you have a dinner reservation at one of the city's most interesting restaurants, the quirky Witchery by The Castle provides the perfect 'Old Town' setting for a welcome meal in the city.

This morning you will wake up looking out across the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Savour the views before heading down for a traditioanal Scottish breakfast. After breakfast, step out into the heart of the city. George Street, where your hotel is located is within easy walk of all the city's main attractions. We recommend taking a morning open-top bus ride around the city. These buses run every 15 minutes departing from Prince's Street Gardens and they allow a great deal of flexibility with your day of exploring the city. You can hop-on hop-off stopping at point of interest around the city. 

Explore the National Musueum of Scotland, The National Gallery and much more. Wander up the Royal Mile, and discover the whisky shops and ancient narrow passageways that connect this historical maze of streets.

After breakfast your driver guide will be waiting outside to take you on a day trip to St. Andrews in Fife. This historic town is famous the world over for both a centre of education and learning with one of the oldest Universities in the UK, but also it's beautiful abbey. Beyond education and learning the charming small town is of course, home to the sport of golf. The Royal & Ancient have their home opposite the famous St. Andrews Golf Course, a traditional Scottish links course that runs alongside beautiful white sandy beaches. 

Explore the old town on foot with your guide before making your way back to Edinburgh with a stop at the beautiful Falkland Palace. On the way into Edinburgh your guide will also stop off by the world famous and iconic Forth Railway Bridge. This will give you a chance to take some lovely photos.

Today is a day of travel through some of Scotland's most incredible landscapes and mountains. After a great breakfast at The Balmoral hotel you will be collected by your driver guide who will be waiting outside the hotel with your transport. You will be departing Edinburgh in search of the peace and tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands. Today you will travel one of the most famous routes in Scotland via Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe. Your guide will explain the fascinating history behind the locations you pass by and you will have numerous opportunities for photos and stops including a picnic lunch in Glencoe enjoying the impressive mountains that surround you. 

This afternoon, you will visit Oban, and have the chance to pop into the famous and charming distillery, Oban Whisky. Oban the town itself, was founded around the whisky distillery over 150 years ago. 

Today you will finish on the Isle of Mull, so after your Oban Whisky tasting it will be time to board the last ferry to Mull. Your luxury guest house style hotel awaits surrounded by stunning peaceful island landscapes.

You will all be boarding the small boat which will take you and your driver/guide out to sea once more on a safari to the island of Staffa, and Fingal's Cave. The islands are fascinating geologocal features and are a widlife haven, with otters, sea and golden eagle and if you are lucky, even from the ferry you may see whales or seals out at sea. 

Your guide will show you the beautiful coastal fishing town of Tobermoray and drive you around the island stopping off at the best scenic sights. Lunch will be taken in Tobermoray at one of the best seafood restaurants in the area.

Your guide will bring with you today, world class Zeiss optics, which will mean any run-ins with wildlife will be much more enjoyable. We recommend keeping a species count today as the bird life is varied and hugely interesting. 

This afternoon/evening you will take the last ferry back to Oban where you check-in to the comfotable Perle Hotel overlooking Oban harbour.

Day 5: Oban to Skye via Fort William & Eilean Donan Castle

Today you leave the comfort of Perle Hotel. After another wonderful breakfast your driver guide will collect you and you will set off north towards Fort William, the other most famous town on Scotland's West Coast. Here you guide will make sure to stop off at the ruins of Old Inverlochy Castle, and point out to you the highest mountain in the UK which looms high above the back of the town. Ben Nevis is 4,406ft above sea level and is often covered in clouds, if you can see the top you are in for a treat! 

Your drive will head north towards Spean Bridge past the Commando War Memorial, a memorial to the WW2 Commando troops who were trained in the mountains in this region of Scotland. Passing through some of the most dramatic landscapes and scenery to found anywhere in the UK, you will head via the Five Sisters of Kintail (5 dramatic mountain peaks that line the road) to Eilean Donan. This is truly a chocolate-box castle, famous the world over Eilean Donan has a fascinating history. You will be able to go inside the castle and enjoy a full tour with your guide learning about this most beautiful of historic landmarks. 

After you visit one of Scotland's most famous castles, it will be time to cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye heading passed the mighty and impressive Cuillin Mountains down to the small village of Sleat and your historic hotel, Kinloch Lodge. This is a beautiful property that has been sensitively brought up to a luxury standard to now be one of the top hotels in Scotland. The rooms are fantastic but one of the highlights of a stay at Kinloch Lodge is of couse the food. Seafood is a renowned here, and we recommend savouring and taking your time with meals whilst at Kinloch Lodge. Your rooms are on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate so you can really enjoy the fantastic cooking. 

After dinner, enjoy a whisky by the fireplace before retiring to bed.

Today you will wake up in the south of Skye, after an incredible breakfast you guide will meet you and show you the highlights of the world famous Isle of Skye. You will have a day travelling north via the mighty and impressive Cuillin Mountains, heading up to Portree the beautiful fishing town and largest town on Skye. Here the coloured houes line the harbour and the streets are narrow from a bygone time. 

After a coffee shop stop here you will head west towards Dunvagen Castle and Gardens which you have the option of visiting before we head south to Talisker Whisky Distiliery. Opposite the distillery is a great seafood cafe where you will be able to enjoy fresh lobster and chips in true Scottish West Coast style!

The afternoon involves heading to Glen Brittle and Fairy Pools - these iconic waterfalls table down the mountains in a series of steps where legend has it, the fairy's once lived and danced.

Today is your last full day in Scotland. After a suptious breakfast, you guide will collect you and take you to Loch Ness. This is a special place, where the legend of the Loch Ness Monster is very real. Only this year there was a seach conducted for evidence of the monster living in these ancient waters. Loch Ness is the longest loch in Scotland cutting a great line across the highlands along a geological fault line that's visible from space. Your guide will explain much more behind this fascinating loch and the canal that runs across the country as you head north east today along it's shores. Your lunch time stop will be at Castle Urquart, one of the most famous inland castles in Scotland, a ruin however just as interesting as any of your previous castle visits. You will be able to gain an insightful understanding of how the clan and community used to live here, in this fortified settlement. 

This afternoon, you will arrive in the ancient city of Inverness. Here you will be able to check-in to your city centre hotel, The Best Western which overlooks the river and the city. 

Should there be time, it is possible to arrange and evening 'beer tasting' session at the local organic 'Black Isle' brewery. The brewery is now famous for making award-winning local craft beers.
