Perthshire Scotland

Perthshire is located at the geographical centre of Scotland. It is often referred to as the 'heart of Scotland' or 'Big Tree Country' as in Perthshire you are never far from an ancient tree. An amazingly fertile and diverse county of Scotland,  Perthshire offers everything from charming Scottish towns such as 'the fair city of Perth' (from which the county takes its name), Crief, Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy to name a few. Heading north from the flood plains of the River Tay you quickly encounter the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

Perthshire's northern reaches are well and truly 'Scottish Highland' territory, with jagged mountain peaks, snow covered for much of the year, to fast flowing salmon rivers. Surrounding the highland town of Pitlochry typically romantic highland scenery awaits the visitor such, not to mention the amazing Blair Atholl Castle home to the Dukes of Atholl. The Duke has his unique private army of tartan clad pipers - well worth a seeing.
