FRANCE'S MOST REWARDING ICONIC TOURIST REGION

Provence is arguably the most rewarding and iconic of France’s tourist regions with so many aspects distinguishing the region from the rest of France. The stunning and varied landscapes of the region, the warm climate, the unique culture and heritage, exquisite food and local customs with welcoming people are fantastic reasons to fall in love with this fantastic corner of France. Provence’s architecture with historic villages and impressively built towns make it the truly special region of France.

How can any tourist fail to marvel at such beautiful scenery in a region where the French Alps meet the sun-kissed Mediterranean sea? Perhaps this combination was the catalyst that inspired the rise of The French Riviera, often called the Cote D’Azur, but there is doubt that the coastal strip from Marseilles to Monte Carlo is one the most beautiful and luxuriously adorned parts of the world.

The true Provence is found further inland than the Riviera. Here the amazing individual character of Provence dominates across every kilometre. Is there a more uplifting sight than seeing fields of colourful lavender stretching into the distance with the backdrop of the iconic Mont Ventoux? The hill top villages with their street markets, where often the houses seem to be falling into the sparkling rivers below, sitting precariously on craggy outcrops of yellow ochre rock. These vibrant blue rivers tumble through steep gorges, flowing out into open plains with field upon field  of prolific crops and luscious fruits.
